Born at Richmond, Quebec in 1876, daughter of Philip Lyster and Catherine Montgomery, she was educated at St. Francis College (Richmond) and the Montreal Normal School. She taught school in Quebec for some time and came to Manitoba in 1919 where she became clerk under Secretary-Treasurer James Donley in the office of the Rural Municipality of Whitewater in Minto. She took over the job in 1923 on Donley’s death, one of only three women in Manitoba at the time to hold this position, and worked in the position until 1930. She died in 1958 and was buried in the Saint Anne's Cemetery at Richmond, Quebec.
