Born at Winnipeg on 29 April 1918, son of Thomas James Harvey “Tom” Lewis (1882-1971) and Vera Eva Palmer (1889-1925), he was raised and educated at Morris. During the Second World War, he enlisted in the Canadian Army in i1940, switching to the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. Following his military discharge, he enrolled at the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Architecture. In 1954, he studied under Frank Lloyd Wright at his design schools in Wisconsin and Arizona.
He was a practicing architect in Winnipeg for many years, as an employee, partner, and on his own. He was a President of the Royal Canadian Legion (Morris branch) and a member of Morris United Church.
He died unmarried at Morris on 13 October 2003 and was buried in the Morris Cemetery.
