Memorable Manitobans: Arthur Edward Leichnitz (c1950-2009)

Cleric.

He received his Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was ordained in February 1982 then served three ministries from 1982 to 1992 in Winnipeg, as pastor to the congregations of Faith and Grace Lutheran churches, as well as chaplain at the University of Manitoba until 1998. He began a ministry under the umbrella of the Lutheran World Federation in 1998, first in Chicago as the Regional Officer for North America and then in Geneva and the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. He died at Winnipeg on 3 March 2009.
