Businessman.
Born in Poland around 1933, son of B. W. Kraut, he came to Canada with his family in 1939, just before the Second World War. In 1956, he bought a store in Charleswood and renamed it the Charleswood Department Store, becoming an institution in the community over the next six decades. He was well known for his humour and welcoming nature. In 1953, he married Marlene Koffman (c1934-2016, daughter of Lou and Ferne Koffman) and they had four children. He died at Winnipeg on 1 July 2014. He is commemorated by Ike Kraut Place in Winnipeg.
