Memorable Manitobans: Olive Karsgaard (?-2001)

Nurse.

Graduating from the Winnipeg General Hospital with an RN, Olive married Dr. Andrew Karsgaard and became partners in a medical ministry. Serving first in a mission hospital in Tofino, British Columbia, they then went to serve for sixteen years in Pakistan. She was essential in the building of Bach Christian Hospital in the Himalayan foothills. Returning to Winnipeg, she was active in the Bethsaida Church and the Christian Women’s Club, continuing her involvement in the ministry by supporting her husband in his capacity as Medical Director of TEAM. She died at Winnipeg on 15 May 2001.
