Memorable Manitobans: Nick Kalansky (?-1998)

Hospital administrator.

He graduated from St. John’s High School in 1965 then received a degree in Arts and Education from the University of Manitoba. He worked as Financial Director for the Department of Psychiatry at the Health Sciences Centre, followed by Director of Medical Administration and Acting Vice-President. He then became Director of the Operating Plan Project at the St. Boniface General Hospital before becoming Associate Executive Director of the Manitoba Health Services Commission. In November 1990 he became Executive Director of Seven Oaks Hospital where he helped to found a Wellness Institute. He died at his Winnipeg home on 23 March 1998.
