Memorable Manitobans: Ethel Johns (1870-1968)

Nurse.

Born in Meonstoke, England, of Welsh parentage, she came with her parents to the Wabigoon district in 1888. She graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1902 and served it in many nursing capacities for many years. She was editor of the Canadian Nurse and wrote often on medical and nursing problems. She served on the Manitoba Public Welfare Commission (1917-1920).
