Memorable Manitobans: Rudy Corny Isaak (1935-2025)

Civil engineer.

Born at Winnipeg in 1935, one of nine children of Gerhard Isaak (1891-1969) and Maria Isaak (1895-1988), he received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba (1959). He was involved with numerous engineering projects across northern Canada. The last ten years of his career were spent working for a First Nations engineering firm where he mentored young engineers.

He was married twice, first on 2 September 1961 to Kathleen Gail Greene (?-2023) at St. Matthew's Anglican Church and they subsequently had two daughters. He later married Dolores. He was an active member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Manitoba (President, 1981), Winnipeg Winter Club, Manitoba Museum (Board Chair, 1994-1996), and Victoria Beach Club. His leisure activities included tennis, golf, and sailing.

He died at Winnipeg on 20 September 2025.
