Farmer.
Born at Exeter, Ontario on 20 July 1855, he came to Manitoba in May 1879 and homesteaded on 320 acres at NE22-2-10W. Before the arrival of the railway in this part of Manitoba, he kept a stopping place for travellers on the old common trail.
On 24 November 1883, he married Eliza Jane Walker (1858-1938) at Emerson and they had three children: Mary Jane Hogarth (1884-1981, wife of Burnice Nathan Booker), Ida Georgina Hogarth (1887-1963, wife of Charles Allen Booker), and John Wilson Hogarth (1890-1979). He was the first Chairman of the board for the Willowdale School District at Purves. He died in the RM of Louise on 23 December 1949 and was buried in the Crystal City Cemetery.
