Naturalist, photographer.
Born at Canora, Saskatchewan on 10 July 1941, son of George and Leona Heshka, after attending high school locally, he moved to Winnipeg and attended the University of Manitoba, graduating with an honours degree in Agriculture. He worked in the Health Protection Branch of Health Canada, as a food and drug inspector. Later in his career, he did contracts for the United Nations and travelled internationally.
He married Joan Epps and they had two sons. The family attended East Kildonan Baptist Church where he ran the Sunday School program for many years and was on the church board. An active member of the Manitoba Orchid Society, he was a co-author of the book Orchids of Manitoba: A Field Guide (2005).
He died at Winnipeg on 26 January 2023.
