Sociologist, historian.
Born on 30 May 1932, he was raised at Manitowoc, Wisconsin and graduated from Carleton College in Minnesota (1954). From 1954 to 1956, he served in the United States Army in Germany, then he continued his education, receiving a Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Nebraska. He worked in market research at Chicago, Illinois before moving to Omaha, Nebraska where he joined the Faculty of Psychiatric Medicine at the University of Nebraska. He did additional graduate studies at the University of Washington at Seattle. In 1971, he joined the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Manitoba. In his later years, he researched historic buildings around Winnipeg and their architects. He represented the Manitoba Historical Society on the City of Winnipeg's Historical Buildings Committee (1989-1993). In December 1963, he married Betty and they had a son and a daughter. He died at Winnipeg on 10 April 2015.
