Cleric.
Born at lwowski, Ukraine on 13 May 1842, son of Ya'ackov Gruber and Pesl “Pessie” Gruber, he came to Manitoba in the 1880s and attempted to establish a Jewish agricultural colony called Gruber, located near Winnipegosis. He and wife Faiga Raizel Lever (?-1922) had six children: Yoseph Gruber, Shulom Gruber, Miryum Gruber, Hannuh Gruber, Tzippoyruh Gruber, and Shoshana Gruber. He died at Winnipeg on 10 April 1919 and was buried in the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
