Marshall Reginald Grant

Real estate agent.
Born at York, Ontario on 6 May 1871, son of Jesse Grant and Priscilla Law, he taught school in Ontario for several years before moving to Winnipeg. He taught briefly at the Winnipeg Business College and then worked successively as a clerk in the stores department of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the York County Loan and Savings Company (1901). He was in Calgary during the summer of 1901, spent a brief period in Vancouver (1902) before returning to Winnipeg (1903).
He became involved in the real estate and loan business with the M. R. Grant Realty Company and as a partner in Grant and Simmers with offices in 101 McArthur Building. On 15 December 1909, he married Alice Maud Mary McMullen (?-?). They had three children: Vivienne Grant (wife of D. Manton), Son1 Grant (killed Second World War), and Son2 Grant (?-1948).
He died at East York, Ontario on 7 April 1950 and was buried in the Park Lawn Cemetery. A collection of his realty records is held at the Archives of Manitoba.
