Memorable Manitobans: Fred C. Grant (1877-?)Farmer. Born at Hamilton, Ontario on 11 April 1877, son of Charles R. Grant and Maggie Gervin, the family moved to Manitoba in 1879 and took up a 480-acre farm in Township 10, Range 18 near Brandon. He attended public school at Chater then went to the Brandon Academy and College, quiting at the age of 23 then bought a farm near Rapid City which he operated until his father retired, when he took control of the family farm. On 24 February 1903, he married Florence M. Spearin. They had four children: Mildred Grant, Max Grant, Jackson Grant, and Marion Grant. Sources:The Story of Manitoba by F. H.
