Memorable Manitobans: Thomas Henry Goodman (1873-1944)

Real estate agent.

Born at Scapa Flow, Scotland on 3 June 1873, son of Thomas Goodman, he came to Winnipeg in 1885 and was educated at local public schools. He worked in real estate as the proprietor of T. H. Goodman and Company.

On 24 April 1905, he married widow Jane Isabel Duncan Rose (1868-1948) at Selkirk. They had two children in addition to son Bernard Daniel “Bert” Rose (c1895-1959) from her prior marriage: Thomas Hazelton Goodman (1905-1966) and Gladys Eveline Goodman (1908-1969). The family lived at 411 Furby Street (circa 1911). He was a founding member of the Crescent Congregational Church.

He died at the Misericordia Hospital on 10 October 1944 and was buried in the St. James Cemetery.
