Professor.
Born near Holdfast, Saskatchewan on 6 February 1909, he attended Campion College in Regina and graduated with BA (1929) and BEd (1937) degrees from the University of Saskatchewan and taught at various schools in Saskatchewan. In 1957, he received a PhD from the University of Manitoba and, from 1942 to 1976, he taught at St. Paul’s College, including a two-year term as Dean of the College. He was a President of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and published three monographs and many articles about the Germans from Russia. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and, in 1966, was invested in the Knighthood of St. Sylvester by Pope Paul for his services to the church and community. He died at Winnipeg on 5 June 2004.
