Educator.
Born near Plum Coulee in the Rural Municipality of Rhineland on 18 May 1906, son and the second-eldest of ten children born to Peter Giesbrecht (1882-1925) and Katherine “Tina” Penner (1882-?), he helped to support the family after his father's death and the family's move to Gretna in the 1920s. He worked as a school teacher.
During the Second World War, he served overseas within the Canadian Army Medical Corps. While on military leave, he married fellow educator Alvina Friesen (1921-2013) on 2 January 1944 and they had three children. He taught at Bjarmi School (?-?), was Principal of Ardal School (1949-1953), and later taught at West Kildonan Collegiate (?-1972) until retirement. He was active with the Kildonan United Church and was a member of the session (1954-1974).
He died at the Health Sciences Centre on 17 May on 1974 and was buried in the Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
