Memorable Manitobans: Jane Arthurs Frain (1927-2016)

Community activist.

Born at Powasson, Ontario on 4 April 1927, she married physician J. Bruce Frain on 23 June 1951 and came with him to Winnipeg. She served as President of the Women’s Canadian Club of Winnipeg and was a member of the city’s Social Planning Council and Board of Revision. In recognition of her community service, she received the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal (1977). She died at Winnipeg on 23 February 2016.
