Memorable Manitobans: George “Red” Eakin (c1930-2010)Athlete, official. He was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame for his wide-ranging contributions to sport in Manitoba, including playing for the Norwood Legionnaires, refereeing for the Canadian Football League and participating in the Pan-American games on the wrestling committee. In addition to his interests and achievements in sports, he was a St. James school trustee, a member of the Superannuation Board, and a lifelong Mason. He died at Winnipeg on 21 February 2010.
