Memorable Manitobans: Stephen Norbert “Steve” Dvorak (1941-2018)

Educator.

Born in the RM of Minitonas on 21 June 1941, he contracted polio in 1953 and spent a year at the King George Hospital. He later attended the University of Manitoba to receive a degree in Education then he taught at Swan River (c1964), Rossburn (c1964), Cranberry Portage (c1967), and Gillam (c1968). After receiving an MEd degree in 1969, he transitioned to school administration, serving as a Principal of Westgrove School (1970-1973) and Assistant Superintendent (1973-1977) and Superintendent (1977-1998) of the Assiniboine South School Division. He retired in 1998 and, in 2015, moved to Vernon, British Columbia where he died on 22 August 2018.
