Educator.
Born in the Rural Municipality of Stanley on 30 January 1905, son of Franz “Frank” Derksen (1870-1943) and Maria Leiding (1877-1959), his 45-year teaching career began in 1926 and ended with retirement in 1973. He taught at Ekfrid School (1926-1931, 1949-1955, 1970-1973), Hamburg School (1937-1938), Gruenthal School (1940-1942), around Mafeking (?-?) and Binscarth (?-?), Chortitz School (1946-1947, Principal), and Boyne View School (1960-1970, Principal 1968-1970).
On 11 September 1931, he married Justine Elma “Justy” Falk (1908-1994) at Carman and they had three children; Evelyn Mae Derksen (1932-2009, wife of Albert Siemens), Dan, and William David “Bill” Derkson (1936-1996). He died at Bethel Hospital in Winkler on 9 November 1994, eight days after Justy died, and he was buried with her in the Winkler Cemetery.
