Athlete, soldier.
Born at Winnipeg on 24 July 1911, he graduated from the University of Manitoba and went to work in England, where he captained the British hockey team to the Olympic championship in 1936. He joined the Canadian army during the Second World War, rising to colonel by the time of his retirement in 1964. In 1968 he founded a Safari and Game Farm in Ontario, which nurtured over 700 species of wild animals. Dailley was active in Oxfam and various international-affairs organizations. He died in 1989.
