Restauranteur, community activist.
Born at Winnipeg on 10 September 1957, son of Stuart and Marion Cumming, he attended Ashland School and Riverview School, and graduated from Churchill High School in 1974. He worked in the Winnipeg restaurant industry for over 30 years. He volunteered in the GLBTT* community and served on the boards of many GLBTT* organizations. He was a founder of the first HIV/AIDS peer support established by Village Clinic. As a drag artist known as “The One & Only Jennifur Coates”, he helped to raise funds for Manitoba charities. He died at Winnipeg on 12 December 2017.
