Memorable Manitobans: Mildred Jessie Miln Campbell (1911-2006)

Community activist.

Born at Winnipeg on 25 January 1911, daughter Maude Laura Hughes, she grew up in River Heights and graduated from Kelvin High School. In her youth, she was a musical accompanist and played in competitions and recitals. On 12 August 1936, she married dentist Gordon Campbell. They moved to China where her husband taught dentistry for seven years, after which they returned to Winnipeg. She was the President of Victoria Order of Nurses and volunteered for other non-profit organizations. She died on 10 January 2006.
