Memorable Manitobans: Allan Barrie Campbell (c1923-2012)Plant breeder. Born at Winnipeg around 1923, son of Arnold Campbell and Petrina Flora Isabel Wilson (1892-1974), he was a Plant Scientist at the Agriculture Canada Research Station in Winnipeg for over 30 years, specializing in the breeding and development of rust-resistant wheat varieties. In recognition of his contributions to Canadian agriculture, he received a Manitoba Centennial Medal (1970), was inducted into the Order of Canada (1989), and was given an honorary doctorate by the University of Manitoba (1992).
