Memorable Manitobans: William Evan Corbett Burnet (1914-2003)Hockey player, bomber pilot. Born at Pilot Mound on 17 August 1914, he was the captain of the Kimberly Dynamiters Hockey Team when they won the World Ice Hockey Championship in 1937. During the Second World War, he piloted over twenty Lancaster bombing missions. On his return from military duty, he was the manager of Credit Foncier Franco-Canadien (Manitoba) Ltd. He was a warden at St. Georges Anglican Church and a member of the Winnipeg Winter Club. He died at Winnipeg on 7 February 2003.
