Memorable Manitobans: Jessie Anne Buckingham (1906-2001)Educator, volunteer. Born at Culross on 27 November 1906, she received her education at the Winnipeg Normal School and the University of Manitoba, and taught at Wawanesa School and Souris School before joining the Winnipeg School Divison in 1930, also doing a year as an exchange teacher in New Zealand. She was a member of the Winnipeg Business and Professional Women’s Club and attended Congresses of the International Federation in London, Stockholm, Washington DC, Montreal, Buenos Aires and Helsinki. She was also a member of Olive Branch Historic Rebekah Lodge No. 1, Exchange Teachers Club, and the Women’s Canadian Club. She died at St. Boniface on 3 August 2001.
