Musician.
Born at Harbin, China in 1916, she received musical training there and performed concerts of British and French chamber music, graduating with honours in piano performance from the Harbin Conservatory of Music in 1931. When her family moved to Shanghai in 1932, she trained with Boris Lazareff, performed with the Shanghai Municipal Symphony Orchestra (1936-1952), gave chamber music recitals sponsored by British Council Centre and Alliance Francaise (1948-1952), and taught piano at the Shanghai National Conservatory (1950-1952).
She married physician Gregor Bronstein (1908-1983) at Shanghai and they had two sons and a daughter. Following a political regime change, the family moved to Canada in 1952 and settled at Winnipeg in 1954.
She performed on CBC Radio and Television as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist for local and international artists. She was an accompanist at summer sessions of the Banff Centre (1969-1994), performed chamber music at Aurora Musicale (1978-1996), and taught at the School of Music at the University of Manitoba (1984-1991). She gave over 800 public, radio, and television concerts until formal retirement in 1999, after which she continued to give recitals at personal care homes. In recognition of her community service, she received a Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002).
She died at Winnipeg on 8 February 2011 and was buried in the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
