Memorable Manitobans: George Wealey Boyd (1861-?)Farmer. Born in Bruce County, Ontario on 1 December 1861, son of Robert C. Boyd and Elizabeth Clarke, he worked on the family farm before coming to Manitoba in 1880 and purchasing farm land near Minnedosa. On 11 February 1902, he married Marion Carter, daughter of Thomas and Ann Carter. They had three children: Annie Burnett Boyd (b 1903), John Douglas Boyd (b 1906), and Robert Hubert Carter Boyd. The family were members of the Anglican Church. Boyd was a member of the IOOF, the Ancient Order of United Workmen, and the Manitoba Grain Growers Association. Sources:The Story of Manitoba by F. H.
