Memorable Manitobans: Joseph Bere “Joe” Blostein (c1896-1981)Businessman. Born around 1896, he learned the tailoring trade during a six-year apprenticeship at a Russian naval base. He came to Transcona in 1914 and opened a hand-to-measure tailor shop and department store. He died at his Winnipeg home, 414 Bond Street, on 30 May 1981 and was buried in the Transcona Cemetery.
