Memorable Manitobans: Laurie Block (1949-2018)Poet, educator. Born at Winnipeg in 1949, he studied at the University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba and worked in childcare at Dauphin. He later lived at Brandon. An award-winning writer, playwright, and storyteller, his work of poetry Time Out of Mind (2006) received the inaugural Lansdowne Prize for Poetry.
