Physician.
Born at Chipman, New Brunswick in 1938, daughter of Marie and Gordon Bishop, she was educated at Acadia University and Dalhousie University then began a career as a pediatrician in Halifax, Nova Scotia, coming to Winnipeg in 1966. She eventually led the pediatric hematology/oncology section and was Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Manitoba. For a ten-year period, she was the only pediatric oncologist in Manitoba. In 1994, she was appointed President of the Atomic Energy Control Board and moved to Ottawa, retiring in 2000 and returning to Winnipeg. She died at Winnipeg in May 2014 and was buried in Chipman, New Brunswick.
