Memorable Manitobans: Clement Arthur Birch (1888-1968)Born at Kent, England on 29 January 1888, son of Clement Birch (c1840-1922) and Ellen Ann Birch (1849-1939), he came to Manitoba in 1910 and worked as a building contractor with the firm of Langford and Birch, later as President and owner of C. A. Birch and Company from 1934 to 1942, and finally as a fire adjuster with the firm of Paterson, Waugh, O'Fallon and Taylor until retirement in 1965. On 5 June 1913, he married Grace Maude Wood (?-1973) at Winnipeg and they had three sons: Jack Clement Birch (1915-?), Norman Birch (?-?), and Gerald Birch (?-1965). He was a member of St. Albans Anglican Church and St. Albans Men's Service Club. He died at Winnipeg on 8 May 1968 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery. See also:
