Born in Russia around 1893, he came to Winnipeg in 1911 and worked as a self-employed building contractor for 40 years. He was married twice, first to Eva Elizabeth Winnick (c1896-1971) with whom he had nine children: Gottfried “Fred” Beitz (1914-?), Molly Elizabeth Beitz (1915-?, wife of ? Schultiess), Marie Elizabeth Beitz (1915-1918), Jakob “Jacob” Beitz (1918-1969), David “Dave” Beitz (1920-?), John Adam Beitz (1924-?), Alex Beitz, Mary Beitz (wife of W. Yunyk), and Joan Beitz (wife of S. Moroz). He later married Molly (?-?). He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, St. Johns Lutheran Church, Canadian German Society (President), Fraternal Order of Eagles, St. Johns Sportsman Club, and German Society of Winnipeg. He died at his Winnipeg home on 22 October 1976 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
