Writer, photographer.
Born at Carman on 4 September 1939, her childhood was spent at Roseisle. In 1957, she married schoolteacher Leo Priebe Barkman and they subsequently had four children. They moved to the Charleswood area of Winnipeg. She began working as a freelance writer in 1972 and published ten books, including Sunny-Side Up (1977), Times to Treasure (1980), Rise and Shine (1987), Purrables: Words of Wisdom from the World of a Cat (1993), and Light Reflections (1995). She also wrote over 300 articles for such publications as Swan River Star and Times, Western People, Steinbach Carillon, and Seniors Today, and she developed an interest in photography. She died at the Riverview Health Centre on 5 March 2025.
