Memorable Manitobans: George William Bannerman (1864-?)Salesman, realtor. Born in Winnipeg in July 1864, son of Samuel Bannerman and Margaret Omand, he was educated at the Winnipeg Commercial College while working on the family farm. When he was 22, he left home and travelled throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan selling fire and life insurance. In 1904 he opened a real estate office at Winnipeg. He was a member of the IOOF.
