Memorable Manitobans: Clarence Henry Baird (1882-1955)

Real estate broker.

Born at Holyoke, Massachusetts on 4 July 1882, son of William and Hattie Baird, he was educated at Cornell University. In 1904, he began working as a civil engineer with Canadian Pacific Railway. By 1911, he was a broker in partnership with Thomas William Holley with the firm of Holley & Baird Realty Company, 265 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. He was a member of the Assiniboine Club, Canadian Club, and Knights of Pythias. His recreations included golf and all outdoor sports. In 1911, he lived at 132 Furby Street, Winnipeg. He died at White Rock, British Columbia on 20 September 1955 and was buried in the Fraser Cemetery at New Westminster, British Columbia.
