Artist.
Born at Sheffield, England on 24 February 1894, he grew up in Liverpool before coming to Manitoba in 1911. He farmed near Teulon until 1915, took a correspondence course in applied art, was wounded in the First World War, and joined Brigden’s for 53 years upon demobilization in 1918. He joined the Manitoba Society of Artists in 1925. Ashmore was best known for his delicate watercolours. In 1929, he married Ruth Slemmons (1898-1995) at Columbus, Ohio and they had two sons, Dave and Tom. He was a charter member of the Rossmere Golf and Country Club. He died at his Winnipeg home on 24 October 1977.
