Memorable Manitobans: James Anderson (1872-?)

Farmer.

Born at St. Marys, Ontario on 20 June 1872, son of James Anderson and Annie Lorimer, he was largely self-educated as he was obligated, as of the age of 11, to help his father to break the land on their homestead north of Brandon. He remained with his father until 1898 when he took up his own farm. On 11 January 1898 he married Isabella F. M. Strachan. They had four children: Clarence Meredith Anderson (b 1900), Lois Olive Anderson (b 1901), Annie I. Anderson (b 1907), and Georgina E. Anderson.
