Curler.
Born Winnie Wilkinson on 29 November 1910, she resided in the same house in Winnipeg’s Bronx neighbourhood from her childhood until her late 80s. She curled and lawn-bowled well into her 80s and was a lifetime member of the Elmwood and Prince Edward Legion Ladies and Mixed Curling Clubs and the Chalmers and Mosienko Bowling Alleys. She won numerous trophies and bonspiels over the years, most notably the Manitoba Senior Ladies Zone Winner and Provincial Runner-up in 1969-1970. Other athletic accomplishments include the Ladies District Curling Championships in 1952, 1955, 1959 and 1960. In 1969, she became a member of the 8-Ender Club. She won the Provincial Pairs Lawn Bowling Championship in 1974. Besides her involvement in sports, her passions included gardening and travel. She died at Winnipeg on 27 April 2004. She had one child and was predeceased by her husband, Harry Wright.
