Musician.
Born in Sault Ste. Marie, he studied music at the University of Michigan and, from 1933 to 1936, arranged for the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Corporation. He worked for the BBC from 1936 to 1939, then returned to Toronto, where he was musical director of Meet the Navy from 1942 to 1945. In 1947 he was appointed conductor of the CBC Winnipeg Orchestra, and he served until 1974. While in Winnipeg he was musical director of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet from 1955 to 1962 and of CBC TV’s Hymn Sing from 1965 to 1977. He composed a number of short works, including “The Red River Jig.” Wild was notorious for beginning musical works on an upbeat. He died in Florida.
