Wholesale merchant.

Born in Scotland on 16 August 1824, he came to Canada as a young man. He resided at Winnipeg for a time before homesteading in western Manitoba. He also worked as a wholesale merchant at Reaburn and was the Returning Officer for the Woodlands constituency in the 1888 provincial general election. Father of John Wemyss. He died at Reaburn on 25 November 1903 and was buried in the Ossawo Cemetery.
