Community activist.
Born at Libau on 27 March 1940 to Katie Wakshinsky (1918-2011) and Andrew Sobovitch (1908-1998), she was raised at Libau and attended Libau School. She was a former member of HMCS Chippawa, Royal Canadian Navy Reserve Division. With her husband Lorne Robert Weir, she had two children.
For 32 years, she was employed at the Behavioural Health Foundation (formerly X-Kalay) and was the founder of the Behavioural Health Foundation court communicator system, bringing credit to both herself and the Foundation. The system she developed is regarded as highly effective, and with the support of the judicial system, she was instrumental in helping thousands resolve addictions issues. The Weir Scholarship Fund was established in March 2005 to recognize the retirement of both her and her husband from the BHF after 33 years of service.
She died at Winnipeg on 6 May 2005.
