Educator, medical worker.
Born at Winnipegosis on 16 August 1909, daughter of Ted Cartwright and Myrtle Sinclair, she taught in rural schools and, in 1930, went to Fork River as a substitute teacher. She caught miliary tuberculosis while teaching there, which was not diagnosed until 1941. She sold her Coleman stove to afford treatment at the Ninette Sanatorium. She was placed in the West Three ward upon arrival and was treated by Dr. Ross and Dr. A. L. Paine. By 1945 she was well enough to work in the Sanatorium kitchen, then its purchasing office. In 1946 she was able to leave the Sanatorium but moved into Ninette and continued to work full time in the purchasing office. On 2 August 1930, she married William Edward Ward (?-1964) at St. Andrews and they had a son. She died at Killarney on 5 January 1990 and was buried in the Ninette Cemetery.
