Memorable Manitobans: G. Kevin Walters (1959-2014)

Event promoter.

Born at Winnipeg on 12 October 1959, son of Aubrey Walters and Eileen Higgins, his involvement in the city’s arts and cultural community began while he was in high school, when he booked bands for school dances. He later worked as a disc jockey, club manager, booking agent, artist manager, and merchandising manager. For more than 11 years, he worked at Manitoba Film and Music, helping to bring such events to Winnipeg as the Juno Awards, Canadian Country Music Awards, BreakOut West, Grey Cup, Manitoba Homecoming 2010, and Culture Days. In 2012, he helped to organize the Selkirk Bicentenary commemorative events. He died at Winnipeg on 23 June 2014.
