Memorable Manitobans: Kyriakos Vogiatzakis (1972-2024)

Businessman.

Born at Winnipeg on 19 April 1972, son of Christos “Chris” Vogiatzakis (1934-2012) and Helen Vogiatzakis, he purchased the River Rouge cruise ship and operated it for a time, later berthing it at the Alexander Docks before being forced to move it to Selkirk. He operated a restaurant on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. He died on 24 January 2024 as a result of an altercation with a man loitering by his restaurant. He was buried in the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
