Film executive, community activist.
Born on 8 March 1951, she became involved with Manitoba Film and Sound (known later as MFM) in 1987 and was its chief executive as of 1990. She encouraged film production to take place in Manitoba and lobbied the provincial government to establish a film tax credit program in 1997.
She served on the Boards of the National Screen Institute, RBC Convention Centre, Canadian Film Centre Feature Film Advisory Committee, Burton Cummings Theatre Performing Arts Group, Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, and Film Training Manitoba. She played a major role in bring the Juno Awards to Winnipeg in 2005 and co-chaired the 2014 Winnipeg Juno host committee.
She and husband Rick Vivier had two daughters and a son. In recognition of her community service, she was inducted into the Order of Manitoba (2014), Manitoba Business Hall of Fame (2019), and Order of Canada (2023). She received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012).
She died on 4 March 2025. She is commemorated by the Carole Vivier Scholarship for Women in Film at Sisler High School.
