Memorable Manitobans: Patrick J. “Paddy” Twomey (1923-2000)

Businessman.

Born at Camrose, Alberta on 1 November 1923, , son of Jeremiah “Jerry” Twomey (1889-1978) and Olga Elizabeth Twomey (1894-1988), brother of Jeremiah F. “Jerry” Twomey, his family moved to Winnipeg in 1928. During the Second World War, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy (1942-1945). He joined his brother in forming T&T Seeds in 1946, building it into one of the largest independent mail order seed companies on the prairies. On 17 August 1946, he married Lois Margaret “Peggy” ? (1925-1990) and they had four sons and four daughters. He died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 5 May 2000.
