Educator.

Born at Ipswich, England on 22 March 1887, he immigrated to Canada in 1911 and may have initially worked at Toronto, Ontario as a bricklayer (1911). By 1916, he married Ida Katherine Ratz (1884-1975) and moved to Winnipeg, where they had at least one child, Barbara Elaine Tinkley (1916-2005, wife of Albert Tuningley).

He worked as teacher and Assistant-Principal at Russell School (1924), after which he was Principal of Woodhaven School (1924-1926) and Assiniboine School (1926-1928). Then he worked in the Norwood School District No. 2113 (1930s-1950s), including at Norwood Collegiate (?-?), prior to retirement in 1957. He also served as a district representative (1926-1927) of the Manitoba Teachers’ Federation. While at Winnipeg, he resided at Albermarle Apartments (c1931).

In retirement, he and his wife moved to British Columbia where they resided at Arranglen Lodge in Qualicum Beach. He died there on 8 May 1977 and was buried in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens at Cedar, British Columbia.
