Memorable Manitobans: Marcel Alexander Thompson (1938-2012)

Car dealer.

Born at Lorette on 8 April 1938, son of Dave Thompson and Lea St. Amand, he attended Maison Chapelle, Langevin School, St. Boniface Juniorate, and Holy Cross School. He took a business administration course at Success Business College then became a manufacturer's agent. After several years, he joined his brother in running Red Star Service then Four Seasons Equipment. For 36 years, he ran Frontier Toyota and later Frontier Subaru and Frontier Autobody. He was President of the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association. He and wife Valerie had a daughter and a son. He served on the boards of the Salvation Army, Cercle de Moliere, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, St. Boniface College, St. Amant Centre, and LEAF Manitoba. He died at his home on 29 March 2012.
